The End Of An Era For Interflora UK
On June 3, 2019, Teleflora the worlds leading floral wire service provider announces it has now acquired Interflora UK from FTD, who is also a leading provider of floral wire services and products in the UK.
The Begining Interflora UK :
Interflora was created in the UK in 1923 under the name Florists Telegraph Delivery Association as we all know as FTD. The main objective of FTD was for all customers to be able to send flowers to family members as well as friends a distance away for Interflora UK across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Let’s all remember at this time phones were not a thing- a favorite way to communicate was through the telegraph. This is why the idea of a flower relay was way ahead of its time and genius for 1923. Florists welcomed the partnership as a way to prospectively gain more business for their flower shops. In 1950s FTD for the UK was named ‘Interflora’ and the rest is history.
