Last-Minute Valentine’s Promo Ideas That Work!
“There is only one happiness in life: To love and be loved. ” – George Sand
With Valentine’s Day just a little over a week away florists are feeling the pressure to be fully prepared for the frenzy! Or will there be a frenzy?
During my recent conversations with florists, I hear the sheer panic in their voice about not yet receiving any Valentine’s Day orders and the terror of it landing on a Friday this year.
Florists, there is always a bit of worry leading up to Valentine’s Day “week”, the feeling that VD orders won’t come is perfectly normal/typical.
Good to keep in mind that Valentine’s Day is notoriously known as the holiday customers wait until the very last minute to buy gifts for, furthermore, Valentine’s Day landing on a Friday can also be a good thing.
That said, it is not too late for a few last-minute promotions to bring in more Valentine’s Day sales. Let us go over the top 5 last-minute Valentine’s promo ideas below.
#1. Flower Gift Ideas:
Create a dedicated web page on your floral eCommerce as well as a dedicated space at your flower shop with a Valentine’s Day flower gift bundle selection.
This can be arranged roses with chocolates and plush or a gift basket with flowers or even an array of plants with candies.
The gift bundle combination can be anything you feel works great together for Valentine’s- be sure to make it easy for a customer to purchase.
#2. Daily Deals/ Early- Bird Specials:
The best way to manage Valentine’s Day orders is to have your customers opt for delivery or pickup prior to VD.
Offer daily deals leading up to Valentine’s Day and early-bird specials. This could be a percentage off, free delivery or even a Free gift with purchase.
#3. Run A Text Campaign:
I’m sure you know the power of running an email campaign, even more, powerful is sending your customers a text promo. I just got one myself from my dentist telling me the perfect Valentine’s gift is white teeth with a % off for teeth whiting sessions- lol.
#4. Single Wrapped Roses
One of the hugest sellers for Valentine’s Day at my flower shop was a single wrapped rose. At the time they retailed for $12.50 USD, it was beautifully wrapped with one sprig of Wax or Caspia, and Foliage with a delicate bow.
I literally sold over 100 of these, I would have a rose selection between pink and red. School kids would purchase them for their friends, mom, stepmom, sisters or aunts, dads would purchase for their kids, some purchased to leave on their crushes cars. If you haven’t tried single wrapped roses, try it out – they sell!
You will want to process the rose and tube it. Make these ahead of time and place on the front counter also post on your floral website.
#5. Run A Contest
The best contest with the most customer engagement is one that keeps on giving for FREE. Enter your customers to win a subscription contest where their significant other will receive flowers every month for 3 months ( the run time is up to you).
To enter the contest the details can be a write-up submitted to you on what their significant other means to them, it can also be a raffle sign up after purchase on your website or flower shop. Regardless of the contest specifics, we want to create a boost in your brand and by posting on social media this will bring an influx of participators to your page.
Personal Note: I have run the write-up contest many times, this is very endearing with lots of participation. The write-ups were all so sweet it was a bit hard to choose a winner, and it will also give you lots of content for an amazing blog.
Write-ups can be pinged to you, or you may also have a write-up page on your website with a form, this is so easy to do- try creating an embedded website form on WUFOO FORMS.
